About Us
Our Story
Our founder, John, has been in construction for over 40 years — framing houses, setting tile, and managing builds across Tennessee. In 2010, he opened Music City Building Supply in Nashville with one mission: give builders and homeowners access to quality materials at better prices, with advice from folks who've actually done the work.
From Nashville to Shelbyville to Columbia and now Lawrenceburg, we've grown with our customers. What started as a single yard and a forklift has become a go-to resource for builders, flippers, and DIYers across Middle Tennessee.
We still run things the same way we always have — with grit, honesty, and a sharp eye for value. Whether you're building a home or patching up a porch, we're here to help you do it right — and save while you're at it.
What We Believe
Built on Experience. Backed by Integrity.
Honest Pricing
If we can save you money, we will.
Practical Help
We know the job because we've done the job.
Local Loyalty
We're proud to serve Middle Tennessee builders, homeowners, and contractors.
Strong Relationships
We're not just here to sell, we're here to support your next project.
Not Just a Warehouse —
A Partner in the Build
Most big-box stores give you a cart and send you on your way. We do things a little differently. Whether you need a truckload of siding or just one more vent for the job, we're here to help you figure it out — and find the best deal we can.
We work with builders, flippers, and DIYers all over Tennessee to find the right materials for their budget and their job. That's why most of our customers come back — and bring their friends.

Our Mascots
Big John & Strolling Jim
Back in our early days, you might've seen our animated mascots — Big John and Strolling Jim — in flyers or commercials. It was our way of tipping the hat to local history and showing a little personality.
Now that we're rooted in Lawrenceburg, we've evolved the brand — but never forgot where we came from. Those early years helped shape who we are today: hard-working, builder-friendly, and always focused on value.
